All Done!

Yea for 23 Things and YEA for actually finishing!
I was getting worried about crossing the finish line. Summer is a happenin' place here at the library. There isn't ten minutes of down time to work on things that take concentration with summer reading club, Battle of the Books and Mother Goose storytime. Reading professional journals? That will have to wait until fall! But alas, I made it.
Thanks, 23 Things team. It was fun!

Podcasts

I've been hearing of podcasts for a while now but haven't subscribed to any because I knew I would not take the time to listen! But, in the spirit of trying something new, I figured if I found a cool podcast I could at least dedicate some of my MP3 to it to try and learn something new.
And cool podcasts I found! I'm in "home improvement" mode (some might call it nesting.) I found an awesome site called "Handyguys Podcast" which has all kinds of basic (albeit not simple) home improvement podcasts. From "Basement Toilet Installs" to how to fix a dishwasher that isn't cleaning properly. Who doesn't want a dishwasher that super-cleans?!

I also found justonemorebook.com for podcasts relating to new children's books. Awesome!

I sused GoogleReader to subscribe to the podcasts. Now to MAKE the time to listen!

Week #10

I'm familiar with the name Firefox as my husband has used it for a long time but I always thought it was more for his mind set - you know, those "computer people." But recently when I went to check something on my home computer he had been on it and he had a totally cool web page - it was Firefox that he had customized. I think I'll give it more of a go.

I've used tabbed browsing in IE for a while now and can't imagine opening all of the different pages if I didn't have tabs. For instance, right now I have 7 different tabs open to work on this project! I like tabs! (#17)

#18 - I added Delicous and Facebook. Weather will be next!

#19 - I used Ctrl+ / - to adjust the text size but saw I could also go to View-text size and adjust from there.

I am definitely going to have to spend more time exploring Firefox!

Trying to catch up!

Summer, summer, summer, beach, storytime, SRC...

I'm way behind on 23things!

I just took the Flickr tour for #14 and loved looking through people's beach pictures although it does make me miss the beach even more!

#15 - uploading a picture that is precious to me -

#16 - one of my all-time favorite videos -

Audiobook Anger

I tried again to dowload an audio book. I am amazed at the length of time it takes – even from our “super fast connections!” I feel the need to comment once more that the selection of children's titles is poor!

I've downloaded my "book" but I do not feel that NetLibrary's site is very user friendly. I finally have a title playing but I have to say that I think with their ease of use and titles available, Playways are the way to go!

No such luck downloading audio books!

Alas, I cannot download an audio book from the library machines because they are locked down tighter than Ft. Knox. I've had this problem before where I want to install something and I cannot. I would hope that they would trust the staff a little more than they trust the patrons with regards to downloading!

I'll try from home later this week because I've been interested in downloading audio books for some time. I created an account a while back so I had some experience when patrons ask but I've never actually downloaded.

I have to say that I'm disappointed in the number (or lack thereof) of children's titles available! Why are there so few?

I feel a little "with it" this week since I already have a Bloglines AND delicious account! Now if I could only keep my user names/passwords straight. Too many, too many.

I stopped checking my bloglines account for a while because I was getting caught up in reading blogs! Some are educational - Dictionary.com word of the day and the sites that review kids music (I am always looking for some new & rocking kids music) but others were just for pleasure like my girl friend's new blog about her quadruplets (how does she have time to blog??) and other "Mom" blogs. I can really get caught up in others' lives!

But now that I've added some of the new 23 Things blogs to my RSS feeder, I'm looking forward to reading new posts. I'm always amazed at how interesting my fellow co-workers are, how well they write and how cool their blogs are!
